Program Overview

The Master in Micro and Nanosystems program offers an interdisciplinary education with elements primarily from mechanical and electrical engineering. It is complemented by courses in physics, chemistry, material science, and computational science. Elective courses in product development, management and other relevant areas are available from the entire course catalogue of ETH Zurich. The program houses projects ranging from basic theory to fundamental methodologies to application-specific problem solving. The program’s teaching language is English. It is open for excellent bachelor graduates from all over the world.

Future oriented skills

The program provides world-class education for a breadth of skills and knowledge in emerging technologies. Teaching combines lectures and independent research projects where current and future needs of academic and industrial research are addressed. Tools and techniques range from computer simulation to advanced experimental techniques in design, function and system integration, manufacturing, and characterization.

Interdisciplinary Learning Environment

The interdisciplinary learning environment is offered jointly by the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT) and the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (D-ITET) of ETH Zurich. The faculty members of this program are committed to excellence in teaching and student projects. Every student is in close contact with a tutor, which allows the program to be tailored to the individual needs and interests of the student.
